Guest lectures: an inspiring link to the professional practice

International Communication and Media (ICM) offers their students all aspects of communication, marketing and media required in the creative industry. Also they develop all kinds of skills that students can apply in the professional practice. To minimize the gap between theory and practice ICM frequently invites inspiring guest lecturers.

Last November a consultant of Scrum Company introduced students of the fourth year course ‘Integrated communication management’ in the world of scrum, a new way of agile working nowadays practiced by many organizations such as Google, Spotify and ING. Last January, students of the second year course ‘Social media marketing & entrepreneurship’ were inspired by Gerwald van den Oetelaar, the co-founder of Appical, a start-up company that helps customers like KLM, Heineken and Coolblue with pre- and onboarding of new employees. The entrepreneur shared his professional experiences and judged the social media campaigns pitched by the students together with three ICM lecturers and former business owners.

Guest lectures help our students not only to learn about the profession, but also help them to grow as an individual while expanding and developing their knowledge and skills of entrepreneurship, creativity, globalisation and technology.
