"I can recommend everyone to go to Utrecht for their semester abroad"
“Utrecht is one of the biggest student cities in the Netherlands. As there are so many students there is always something to do. In the city center, there are many cozy bars and restaurants, but also many clubs. Especially for international students the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) has many great offers like night canoeing in the canals or bubble football. They also organize weekend or day trips to places in the Netherlands and even abroad like a trip to Prague or Rotterdam.
HU offers a lot of English-taught minor programs. I signed up for the International Business Skills minor. There the main task was to build up a strategy for a well-known Dutch office furniture brand which wants to go abroad and internationalize. This project simulation was very realistic and close to a real-life working situation. The highlight of the minor was a two-day conference where we presented our outcomes to managers of the company.
Overall, this minor really helped me to develop personally. I now feel a lot more self-confident and prepared for work life. And even though I was not in an English-speaking country my English improved a lot. The HU also provides a lot of help to international students. The international office helps with any kind of problems and issues even if they are not related to studies.
I can recommend everyone to go to Utrecht for their semester abroad. It is just a beautiful city - in my point of view even nicer than Amsterdam or any other Dutch city! The Dutch are very open-minded and friendly. Also, the university is very modern, well-equipped and has a great network to many Dutch and international companies.”
