Visual Design

Programme code:  CMD-VD
Semester:   Spring
Number of ECTS:  30
Language of instruction:  English

Profile of the programme

In the CMD Visual Design specialization you will learn how to convert a concept into attractive, and effective images.

To be able to do this and to be able to develop your own style and taste, you will study the 'larger context' of visual design: tastes, fashions, aesthetics and the influence of the media and technological developments in design.

The assignments cover theoretical and practical aspects. You will work with knowledge from user experience design, (digital) information design, interaction design, graphic design, advertising, illustration, typography, routing and information visualization.

You will learn how to develop a visual concept, flexible enough to translate into various media, platforms and devices and that offers an adequate answer to the goals of a client.

You will work with colours, layout, image, motion design, iconography, typography and use them in interactive designs. And of course, you will experiment, develop yourself creatively, learn from ‘best practices’ and design a lot.
