Sustainability: Communicating Shared Value

Programme code:  ICM-JM/CS
Semester:   Fall
Number of ECTS:  30
Language of instruction:  English

Profile of the programme

This program, minor Sustainability & Communication, consists of 6 independent courses. It can be chosen either as a whole package of 30 ect`s or its courses can be combined  with other ICM courses, as long as the total number of credits does not exceed 30 per student per semester.
Sustainability&Communication is, as a minor, offered to the students in their 3rd study year. This does not apply to visiting students as much as other requirements do (see “entry requirements” below)

The course is divided into six modules, each involving the practical application of communications strategies within various stakeholder groups globally across industrial, governmental, and non-governmental organizations. This includes the use of definitions, sustainability models, a focus on the communication of key issues (eg. climate change, resource inequality and scarcity, water and food wars, and energy), sustainability strategy, and stakeholder identification and engagement. Specific attention is paid to the strategies used by organizations to communicate their sustainability commitments and successes and the relatively new subjects of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Creating Shared Value (CSV).

Entry requirements

  • Students without any background in or knowledge of corporate communication are advised not to select this course.
  • English at B2 level.
