Bachelor programmes

A number of Bachelor’s programmes at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (HU) are taught entirely in English. On successful completion of one of these programmes, you will be awarded an internationally recognized Bachelor’s degree. All programmes have a practical focus and internships are included.

HU offers the following English-taught Bachelor’s programmes: 

International Communication & Media (ICM)

ICM trains you for a career as a communication and media professional in a company, public office or agency. Job opportunities open to you include press officer, public relations consultant, publisher, interface designer, event manager, ad campaign coordinator and media planner. ICM covers the full range of communication management, digital communication and media.


International Business & Management Studies (IBMS)

IBMS focuses on the international aspects of marketing and sales, management, finance and logistics and leads to a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. After one year, you can specialize in International Business, International Marketing or International Finance.


IBMS fast-track programme

For students with a pre-university high school diploma (the equivalent of good A level results in England), IBMS offers a three year fast track programme. While still offering two internships and the possibility to study abroad, this programme leads to a Bachelor’s degree within three years. This is a demanding programme, and you will have to undergo an assessment before gaining admission.


Teacher Education in English

The teacher education in English programme leads to a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) teaching qualification. This qualifies you to become an English teacher for lower secondary school levels. During this course you acquire knowledge about the English language, literature and its society while at the same time you learn to put your experience into practice by doing teaching training in a secondary school.


Teacher Education in German

The teacher education in German programme leads to a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) teaching qualification. This qualifies you to become a German teacher for lower secondary school levels. During this course you acquire knowledge about the German language, literature and its society while at the same time you learn to put your experience into practice by doing teaching training in a secondary school.

Preparatory courses

If you have the ability to enter higher education but lack the necessary qualifications to start an undergraduate degree programme in English, the university offers International Preparatory courses. You will take subjects that are relevant to the degree programme of your choice and gain the study skills and the command of English you need to tackle an undergraduate programme.
